Okay, let it be known that I cannot stand, I mean, abhor Michael Jackson's father, Joe Jackson. I think he is an abusive narcissist whose love of money, drove his family into madness. If anyone doubts that man is head of the family, take a look at that one and see what a bad one leads to.
So Joe Jackson and his wife have filed for custody of Michael's three children. Okay, GRANDMA??? You had your chance to screw up five kids by your pathetic clinging to a narcissist at the expense of your children, you've had your shot, leave these kids alone! Seriously, I pray that Michael died BROKE so those kids can get the love they deserve and no one takes them for their money. http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/06/29/michael.jackson/index.html?iref=mpstoryview
Seriously, what has money gotten that family, but pain and bad plastic surgery? What is this quest for money about? Why, do we as a society, continue to believe money will make us happy? If that's true, why was poor Michael on a mix of anti-depressants and pain killers? I just pray these kids don't have more of their childhood stolen from them. Their daddy is gone, and I cannot believe Michael would want his father raising them. I do hope he's left a good solid will. Not that Joe won't find himself a dirty lawyer. Sigh. I hate what money does to people.
If anyone doubts my speculation about Joe Jackson, just watch this video two days after his son died.

I heard some rumor that Debbie Rowe had come forward and said she and Michael's marriage was a sham and that Michael wasn't their biological father.
Did you hear that one too?
I feel awful for the kids. I hope they don't end up paying for other people's mistakes, bad decisions and greed.

Why Debbie Rowe would have to come forward and admit that is beyond me. There's not one bit of African-American in those kids... BUT, I digress.
Kristin, you are so right. I watched that old TV miniseries on the Jackson 5 last night on TVLand and was horrified. (I know it's not all true, but...) No wonder... On the other hand, Michael was a mentally unstable kid with unreasonable fears from the time he was small. He needed help way back when... It's just too bad his parents were so greedy and needy not to provide what he really needed at the time. He spent his whole life searching for happiness afterward.
Of the 8 or 9 kids Joe and Katherine had together (Not counting the ones he had with his mistresses) only 2 of them remained married to their original spouse. What does that tell you? The boys cheated on their wives and all kinds of things. Such a shame.
Money doesn't last. Family will always be family - whether you're happy about that or not - so you'd better mend your fences and do the best you can with who and what you have. Life's too short!
Those kids of MJs need stability and love and who knows whether the Jackson mafia...er clan can give it to them. Maybe second chances are a good thing...

Amen, stability is key and not stable with the crazy family they have. Boy, Katharine staying married to that man really empowered him in ways I can't imagine. He's like a sociopath when he talks, absolutely no emotion about his son at all, he just goes on about his business. Dude, you would not be on that red carpet were it not for your son. Could you have the decency to mourn him? That Jackson 5 were over decades ago.

I think it's pretty interesting that that video has already been removed from youtube. I tried to go watch it and it's gone!

Really Abby? I'm sure you can get it on MTV maybe. Interesting though. I just hate how these emotional blood suckers continue to live on while the devastation of their narcissism destroys those around him. My hackles go up every time I see that man. That's where the discernment thing gets me into trouble because I know I sound like a judgmental so and so, but that man should not be out on the streets.

I was thinking the exact same thing as Valerie re: Michael's kids... wouldn't he look something like them (pre surgery!)
I thought his dad was pathetic being on the red carpet and plugging his latest project of whatever it was (I didn't pay enough attention- I was too focused on how "unmournful" (is that a word?)he was. But then... what do you expect from a guy who pimped his children (particularly his 5 yr old son) by starting their singing careers in strip joints!
Craziness!
