Which Cover?

These are possibilities for my new cover for my young adult novel "Perfectly Dateless" from the Universally Misunderstood Series.  Which cover do you prefer and why?

WOOOHOOO!! It's Barry!

Some days, it really sucks to be what feels like the only romantic in Silicon Valley.  But not today.  Today, I've heard that a new romantic comedy, in the ilk of Mamma Mia, is coming to theaters.  A Barry Manilow movie with HIS music, where rabid fans converge on Vegas.  Okay, this makes me happy.  There are romantics left in the world.Barry hits screens!

Memories...

So there is a new pill that has been shown to erase painful memories.  They asked people which memories they'd most like to erase.  Here's what I thought they'd say: losing a child, war trauma, that kind of thing.

You know what people said?  "Public humiliation."  Are you kidding me?  That would erase about 50% of what makes me Kristin.  Some people said, "A painful breakup."  Does that mean you wouldn't be able to understand the basic Taylor Swift song?  

Isn't the result of painful memories that we've learned something?  We've grown as people?  We've at least learned some compassion or how to salvage our dignity for the next time.Pill to Erase Memory

I think if I could erase any memory though, it would be working for this nightmarish woman in college. She made me distrusting of people in general.  I don't think that necessarily enhanced my personality. What about you?  Is there a phase better left forgotten?  

Sums it up...

I didn't watch the MTV awards. I'm not a big fan of Russell Brand, but now I'm totally wishing I did.  Apparently, Kanye got up and tried to take Taylor Swift's award saying it should have belonged to Beyonce for "All the Single Ladies".  Actually, I agree with Kanye because the Beyonce video will go down in history, it's a classic.  

But wrestling the mic away from Taylor, that's like kicking a puppy, you know?  It simply isn't done.  And what does Kanye have going on his head?  He's like a walking Aztec monument. I'm also a fan of Taylor's Love Story video, over the other one that won.  I own it.  Under the guise it's for my daughter, but I think it's so darling.  

I'm also a fan of the "Waking Up in Vegas" video by Katy Perry.

Let's face it.  Musical artists have always been a little whack.  No offense Whitney Houston, but the crazy music gene goes back at least as far as Mozart.  Creative people are nuts.  And that's why I wish I watched the VMAs.  

I watched "Ruby".  I have to give the girl props.  I could never be that patient.  I'd get the surgery to lose weight.  I think I'd make a good Southernah.  I'm reading "Beach Music" again and after watching Ruby, I'm ready to move to Charleston. I bet I'd never forget to eat there.

Kat Von D??

I have to admit my ignorance.  I had no idea who this was.  Me!  The reality TV addict.  Okay, so I'm out of the tattoo age group.  Thank goodness!

Being out of makeup, I was going to go to Sephora.  Having worked in malls, I don't like to be in them if I can avoid them, so I was checking out if there's a Sephora outside the mall (there isn't.)

Sephora is having an event for Kat Von D's new colognes.  I get that I'm out of it, not cool and old.  But who wants to smell like a tattoo parlor?  I grew up around a lot of drinking and smoking, so that's the scent I get in my head when I think tattoo parlor.  I want to smell like this, why?  And if you think something different when you think "Kat Von D" and tattoo, please educate me.

Marketing and being famous have gone WAY too far. I did a lot of stupid things when I was young.  I'm glad I didn't tattoo them on my lower back.

Oh wait, I also think rubbing alcohol and burning flesh.  Still not pleasant.
