I love sweeping novels littered with characters who have epic inner journeys for us to discover. I reread "Les Miserables" recently. (I like it better with music) because a new film is coming out with Hugh Jackman & Russell Crowe.
Now, I've read that not only is there a new movie about Dickens' love affair with a woman half his age. (The Invisible Woman 2013) BUT...there is a new filming of "Great Expectations" with Ralph Feinnes as Magwitch AND Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham. I think we can all agree that Helena was BORN to play that part. : ) (Oh she was soo good in "Dark Shadows") Jeremy Irvine from "War Horse" will play Pip. It's supposed to release in December of 2012.
"The Invisible Woman is in filming right now and expected to be out in 2013. So I think I can say with an air of confidence that it's a good time to be a lover of classics. (Since the public domain stories are free and ever budget-conscious Hollywood sees a deal.) Costs them more in costumes, though. Either way, it's a good time to be me.
